About The Muslim Remarry Service

The Muslim Remarry Service is the UK's new Islamic-Social-Networking site providing information, advice and re-marriage support for divorced, single-parent and widowed muslims and anyone facing divorce.

Today there are 2.9 million muslims living in the UK and muslims make up 5% of the UK population. 63% of muslim households contain at least 1 dependant child and 25% of muslim households contain at least 3 dependant children (age 0-16). (Census, April 2011, Office for National Statistics)

The prophet encouraged 'marrital' relationships and today 22% of UK muslims aged of 16-22 are married. (Census, April 2001, Office for National Statistics) But unfortunately, 1 in 8 muslim marriages now end in divorce; up from 1 in 20 in just two generations (guardian.co.uk, Monday 23 May 2011)

And on the opposite scale, 17% of 45-54 year old muslims describe themselves as divorced or seperated (Census, April 2011, Office for National Statistics)

Dr Ghayasuddin Siddiqui - Director of the Muslim Institute - said, "We need an awareness campaign to empower young people and parents to recognise that around 70% of forced marriages end in divorce, leaving ONE parent to pick up the pieces."
